See 1785 Come Alive
Every Saturday,
10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
The holiday season “back then” didn’t look much like it does today. Stop by the Thayer House Museum for a look at the holidays as they were in 1785! Free with museum admission.

Homegrown & Hearth-Cooked
Saturday, December 19, 6:00 p.m.
A lesson in hearth cooking and an unforgettable dining experience in one candlelit evening! Our hands-on dinner program features a behind-thescenes opportunity to learn about hearth cooking techniques, period recipes and seasonal menus, and a sample of what delicious foods were common in the past. Appropriate for all skill levels, ages 21+. Seats are by reservation only. $50 per person; $40 per person for members.

Sunday, December 27, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
An annual treat at the Thayer House Museum! BHS Members are cordially invited to stop by for an afternoon of hot cider, candlelit glimpses of the Thayer House Museum, and convivial
company. Not yet a member? Know someone who’d love to join? The Holiday Social is the perfect opportunity to join the BHS or get a gift membership! Free for members.

Treasure or Trash? How Objects Become Artifacts
Monday, January 18, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
What is that thing? That’s for us to wonder and you to figure out! Join us for a fun look at how ordinary objects become important clues to life in the past. We’ll start with a tour of the BHS collections and a discussion of curatorial work, then take on the task of identifying obscure and interesting pieces and their significance. Put on your best Sherlock Holmes cap and be a sleuth
for a day! Free!

Presidential Pastimes
Monday-Friday, February 15-19,
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Braintree gave early America two of its first national leaders, but what was it like to be a child here in town in the 1700s? In honor of Presidents’ Day and our two famous local presidents, drop in for our school vacation activities! We’ll be offering a hands-on opportunity to experience children’s lives in the 18th century! Best for ages 6-12; $5 per child, $3
per member’s child. Children must be accompanied
by an adult.
