You are cordially invited to become a member of the Braintree Historical Society, Inc., an institution dedicated to the care and preservation of Braintree's history and culture. The Society, founded in 1930, Ot,vns and operates the Sylvanus Thayer Birthplace, the Gilbert Bean Museum, the Mary Bean Cunningham Resource Center, the historic Asa French House, the Dr. Gallivan House, and the Watson Museum/Library. The Society is a rich source of information about Braintree, its history, and its people. From the preservation of two of Braintree's Nationally Registered Historic Properties to the operation of an award winning education program, the Historical Society helps contribute to the cultural enrichment of our Town, our State, and our Nation.

The Historical Society is a membership corporation. All of our activities and the continued operation of the Society depend on the support of its members. We hope that you will come and visit our museum and historical properties and take part in our numerous events throughout the year. Our Nation creates history every day. Your generous support will help preserve that history for the citizens of tomorrow.
